Dr. Debera Blanton Balthazar

Dr. Balthazar served the Houston Independent School District for 39 years and now teachers master’s and doctoral-level students as a contributing faculty member at Walden University’s Richard W. Riley College of Education & Leadership. She has served as teacher, counselor, assistant principal, and principal, achieving the performance rating of Exemplary in 2009 and 2010. Dr. Balthazar was also selected as 2010 Region IV Elementary Principal of the Year -South Region.

Dr. Balthazar graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in elementary education and a minor in sociology. She then earned a master’s in education with a concentration in guidance and counseling, a certification in mid-management, and a doctoral degree in educational administration from Texas Southern University. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., an active member of her church community and beloved mother and grandmother.
